To begin, I just wanted to say how great this week has been so far. I have met so many girls from all over Canada and made some new friends with whom i`ve had the chance to try things I`ve never done before. This week is definitely an unforgettable experience no matter what happens on Sunday.
So today, Thursday August 6th 2015, day five of Miss Teen Canada pageant, we had the chance to go to Bowamville’s zoo and pet a baby tiger and baby lion. They were so cute! After visiting all the other animals , we went to the Eaton centre where we had lunch at Richtree Market. They were serving amazing tacos and burritos from a truck which I found really original and the fish tacos were so tasty. When I come back to Toronto, which hopefully will be soon, I’ll be coming back to that creative and delicious taco truck for a bite.
Throughout the day, we had the opporunity to visit Yorkdale mall who offered us a goodie bag with a 10$ gift card. The majority of the girls enjoyed spending it at Victoria’s Secret and so did I. Just another amazing sponsor for Miss Teen Canada. As this awesome and full day was winding down, we were treated yet again, this time to a show at Medieval Times as we enjoyed a delicious meal.
Meeting all these beautiful ladies has made me curious about where they live . As Miss Teen Canada, my goal would definitely be to visit all the wonderful places our country has to offer. Let me finish by saying a big thank you to all the Miss Teenage Canada 2015 sponsors and to the people who make this pageant possible.

Let`s just say I wasn`t `bullied` into choosing my platform for the Miss Teen Canada pageant and I didn`t write this blog on my cell phone while driving lol
Have you guessed my platform yet? Bullying and Texting While Driving, two subjects i`ve become very familiar with over the years. Fortunately, it is not because I was a victim but rather because my dad, as the Community Services Officer for the O.P.P. and thus very involved in the schools, has had the mandate to educate people on those subjects and as a result, I have learned a lot by just being around him.
As I learned about the term `bullying`, I realized it was simply labeling an action that was already happening all around me, on many levels and to people of all ages. Becoming very much aware of the effects of bullying as I listened to my dad at home but also in school, I was proud to be featured, many years ago, in my dad`s first anti-bullying video made for the O.P.P. for the prevention in schools. Then the anti-bullying campaign evolved to include cyber-bullying i.e. by cell phone and internet for which I also helped and presented to my school mates as part of a school assignment. My sister and brother as well as my mom and uncle have also starred in anti-bullying videos for the O.P.P. and so the subject is one I know well.
As part of prevention, the campaign grew to involve texting and driving, something I`m sure all teenagers who own a cell phone have to face at some point when starting to drive. What is different about this is that unlike having to defend yourself or others against bullying, texting and driving makes YOU responsible. YOU make the choice to text or not while you are driving. I`m sure most of us from the graduating classes of the last few years have had the `Safe Grad` presentation. Educating us on the consequences of drinking and driving, taking drugs and driving, etc but to become aware of the possible devastating effects such a seemingly innocent action as texting while driving could bring, it was imperative we bring awareness to drivers and drivers-to-be.
Being passionate about these issues made me want to help spread the word way before I ever knew I would become Miss Teen P&R and aspire to become Miss Teen Canada. Now that I am wearing this crown and sash I feel it gives me a greater sense of responsibility to bring awareness on such important issues and this status will also give me better opportunities to do so, especially if I am fortunate enough to hold the status of Miss Teen Canada.
I will use this crown as a tool, to give me a voice to share the powerful message about bullying and texting while driving. Starring in prevention videos, working with the Hawkesbury Police Explorers, giving radio and newspaper interviews and speaking at functions are only a few ways i`ve already used to help raise awareness of these issues and I wish to keep doing these and more. As Miss Teen P&R i participated in the making of a new `texting while driving` prevention video that is provincially promoted by the O.P.P. This is only the beginning as my belief is that when you are passionate about something, as I am about my platform, the drive comes naturally. This gives me the determination as one individual, to create the change in society and find strength as more and more people become aware of the negative effects of bullying and the dangers of texting while driving.
We, as individuals can make a difference in this world. Let`s hope that in the near future, these issues will become a no-brainer, as logical and automatic as not running with scissors.
Miss Teen P&R
Walmart Rockland was the last fundraising site for FREE THE CHILDREN, Friday July 31st. I was happy to talk about MTC and FTC to anyone who was willing to listen. Many were pleasantly surprised to find out that someone from their neck of the woods was going for Miss Teen Canada and I appreciated their words of encouragement. Thank you to my aunt Manon and cousin Jess who came to help out.
A lovely supporter and her 5 kids stopped by with good wishes and the sweet boy sticking his tongue out kept waving at me and saying `goodbye beautiful princess` lol he warmed my heart.
All in all, as tiring as this has been between work, fundraising and getting ready for nationals, I am proud to say I`ve accomplished the fundraising goals I had set for myself and will be proud to turn in this money to the charity Free The Children!
I will now go and finish packing, until next time,
Miss Teen P&R
Let me tell you that even if I live in a small community, there is no shortage of generosity and support! The Prescott & Russell people have huge hearts and I am so thankful for their generosity and good wishes. On July 24th, Hawkesbury`s Walmart people graciously allowed me to spend hours at their store so I could collect funds for FREE THE CHILDREN.
I had the opportunity to make people aware of FREE THE CHILDREN, which my mom kept calling FEED the Children lol The setup I had included a binder with lots of information on the charity and people said they were finding it interesting to find out that the pageant wasn`t just for beauty and glam…! Since bullying and texting while driving are my platform, I took advantage of the questions people were asking to speak of these important causes.
I believe I even made a positive change in one lady`s mind about pageants. She asked if the money collected was going toward purchasing dresses for Miss Teen. My mom quickly explained about how her own budget was the victim of that which made the lady smile and so I continued with the information about FREE THE CHILDREN. The woman was all smiles when she left, AFTER giving us a donation and wishing me good luck!
As you can attest by the pictures on this page, many future little princesses (of all ages) were happy to wear my tiara for a few pictures. Seeing the smiles on their faces was so precious and some even said they wanted to wear a crown one day so i`m hoping to have secured some future MTC candidates from my area lol
I will be going back to my local Walmart store as well as another one in a nearby town in Prescott and Russell county to collect more money for the great charity that is FREE THE CHILDREN! Hope to see you there.
Miss Teen P&R 2015
On July 11th, 2015, my little town of Hawkesbury, Ontario broke the Guinness World Record for the largest choreographed Footloose dance and I was there as an official witness. I made an onstage appearance to introduce myself and speak of MTC and FREE THE CHILDREN and to congratulate and encourage all participants to this energizing event.
The atmosphere on the street was amazing and even contagious. I may even have danced a few steps myself 😉
Love to dance, Live to dance, dance to live,
Miss Teen P&R 2015
What a beautiful day it was July 10th for walking on main street to meet with people and do some PR. Met up with Mr Sirois, who`s the event coordinator in my town for `Le Chenail`, to discuss the events of the following days, including the breaking of a Guiness world record which I will discuss in another post. I also spoke with the gentleman who does my nails, affectionately named `Tam` who supported me toward earning my `Miss Teen P&R` title and again, now that I am in the running for Miss Teen Canada. I feel Blessed to be so well supported by the local people.
I stopped and posed with many lovely folks including my hair dresser Kim at PÜR Studio and even my `mamie` who was having lunch at a local restaurant.
A beautiful day, lovely people and an occasion to offer information about MTC, myself and our charity `Free the Children`, all in all, a productive day!
